The Jesuits hoped that many of their students would become future Jesuits (Donnelly, , pg. ).

The Jesuit Online Library grants free access to 39 titles in Jesuit Studies, across more than , pages in more than 1, volumes in English, French, German, Latin, Spanish, and Portuguese. Users may search all this content simultaneously or may browse single volumes individually. The Jesuit Libraries Project recreates the original library catalog of St. Ignatius' College (forerunner to Loyola University Chicago) in an innovative virtual library system. The c catalog, now in the collections of Loyola University Archives and Special Collections, records approximately titles, encompassing over volumes.

The Jesuit tradition of education has a distinguished history spanning five centuries. Loyola University is one of 23 Jesuit universities and colleges in the United States. Here are five "characteristics" that explain the Jesuit method of education which undergirds the entire experience of teaching and learning at Loyola University Chicago. The Jesuits (Society of Jesus) in the Catholic Church have founded and manage a number of institutions, including the notable secondary schools, colleges and universities listed of these universities are in the United States where they are organized as the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Latin America they are organized in the Association of Universities Entrusted.
